Documents from former USSR countries for Europe

Updated Author: Apostille Bureau

In brief

If your document was issued in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova or another former Soviet republic, only the issuing country can apostille it — this cannot be done in Russia. Soviet-era forms often cannot be apostilled, and a duplicate is needed. We obtain duplicate documents and the apostille in the issuing country, translate them for your country in Europe and send you the originals by courier. We will quote the price and timescale for your document.

Which countries we work with

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, as well as Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

What we do

  • obtain duplicate civil registry certificates and other certificates in the issuing country;
  • obtain the apostille from the competent authority of that country;
  • arrange consular legalisation for documents from Turkmenistan;
  • translate in the form your country in Europe will accept.

Timescales and prices

The procedure, timescale and price depend on the issuing country and the document: for duplicates, from 14 working days plus shipping of the documents. We will give you an exact price once we know which document you need, from which country, and for which European country. Some countries require a notarised power of attorney — we will tell you in advance.

Client reviews

Our team’s clients have obtained duplicates from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and other countries with our help — you can read their reviews on the home page.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Kazakh certificate be apostilled in Russia?

Not the original. Only the country that issued the document can apostille it. We will obtain a duplicate in Kazakhstan and arrange the apostille there.

What about documents from Turkmenistan?

Turkmenistan is not a party to the Hague Convention, so consular legalisation is required. We will explain the procedure for your country in Europe.

Is a Soviet certificate issued in another republic acceptable?

As a document, yes, but only the present-day country where it was issued can apostille it, and often only on a duplicate certificate. Send us a scan and we will look at your case.
