In brief
Lithuania has denounced its legal assistance treaty with Russia, so Russian documents for Lithuanian authorities now need an apostille. Lithuania has no sworn translators: a Lithuanian translation is done by a translator or agency, and sometimes a notary certifies the translator’s signature. A criminal record certificate is required for a temporary residence permit. We obtain the documents in Russia without you travelling, apostille them, translate them into Lithuanian and send the originals to Lithuania.
Which Russian documents are most often needed in Lithuania
- Criminal record certificate — for a temporary residence permit.
- Civil registry (ZAGS) certificates — birth, marriage, divorce, including duplicates to replace Soviet forms.
- Documents issued by the Russian consulate in Lithuania. These cannot be apostilled: we obtain a duplicate from the ZAGS archive in Russia and apostille the duplicate.
Apostille
Since the legal assistance treaty ended, Lithuanian authorities require an apostille on Russian documents. Only a Russian authority can issue it: the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) for a criminal record certificate, the regional civil registry office (ZAGS) for certificates. We do this without you having to travel to Russia.
Translation into Lithuanian
Lithuania has no sworn translators and no official list of them. Usually an agency or a translator does the translation and states in the document who translated it; sometimes a notary certifies the translator’s signature. We translate into Lithuanian and, if the authority asks for it, have the translation certified. Translation from Russian into Lithuanian: €15 per translation page (1,800 characters). If you are unsure which certification you need, ask the authority you are submitting the documents to, or ask us.
Prices
- Criminal record certificate with apostille: from €115 — turnaround times and prices.

The state fee for the apostille is included in the price. Delivery to Lithuania is charged at the courier’s rate. Euro prices are based on the Bank of Russia exchange rate on 22.10.2026.
